Akto Agro
I have had an Akto on order from Field and Trek for quite a while now.I received a letter yesterday to say that "the tent is still unavailable and the supplier has been unable to provide us with any firm delivery date due to production problems".
I emailed Hilleberg to ask them about this and when they expected Akto's to be in the UK (I want to get a couple of weekends in soon!).
I had this reply today...
Hi,
Production problems is something else then exceptional sales! We have had a very good season and have been sold out on many models for several weeks during the later part of the summer. But so far we have never failed to deliver orders we have confirmed. Field & Trek had Akto tents in order from us for delivery in week 40, which is the week we sent them the tents. The Aktos were shipped from us 6/10, so they could be with Field & Trek by now.

I suspect Hilleberg are a little upset with F+T's letter.
I just want my tent! No shop in the UK has one, believe me I have phoned everyone. I am just about to cancel and get a Seed House. I'll give F+T a couple more days.

I had a similar delay with F&T earlier in the year. Someone on OM suggested Kentdale Outdoor: http://www.shoppersworld.co.uk/store/default.asp?s=91
They were sold out, but the expected delivery came in when promised, and they called when they promised. I could have had a red Akto earlier though. Nuff said.
I can't quite work out why they make red Akto's - I suppose there are situations where you would want to be seen, but would you take an Akto into those situations?
I think Field and Trek are having a slightly dodgy time after re-structuring the company last year.
There is little point in us using a red Akto - perhaps in snowbound areas maybe.
This is a fantastic tent. You can get lighter but this is so simply to put up - and it copes with bad weather really well. And like all Hilleberg's it is bomb proof!
I also had an order with F&T (when they had their 20% discount on) - had to wait a couple of months but finally arrived this week. Looks very well made.
I ordered anothe Akto for a friend yesterday, so we'll see how long this takes to come. Web sites with live stock levels are the future!
red akto's look like a giant boil on the countryside so maybe people with bad achne appriciate them. For people with decent skin the green is the way to go. On a serious note F&T have a sale on at the moment but it doesnt say what colour the akto's are otherwise i would have purchased one then and there, as it is i await an email or go elsewhere rather than take a chance of being ridiculed as achne boy.
