Interesting stuff. I thought there was just Canoe and Kayak... didn't realise there where these things called 'Sit On Top Kayaks'. They look great fun and a great introduction to scaredy cats such as me.
I have always had chunky thighs (he typed, telling the world) and once had an alarming moment when learning to capsize in a kayak that was a squeeze for me to get into. I was 17, but these moments don't easily leave you!

Hi Martin,
It is great fun. I have a trad' kayak too although I haven't used it for years.
We bought this to give the kids confidence in the sea, and although the waves on Saturday were pretty small, we still had the craft at 45 degrees skyward a few times when bigger sets came in. My eldest was at the front and was taking the full power of the waves in face (good for me!) and loving it! He has always been pretty nervous in water.
Then I popped him in the boat with his three year old brother, and turned it over. After an initial spluttering, they were fine and relieved to know that they wouldn't 'die' if we ever did capsize. Another shot of confidence.
Then it was out into deeper water to practice 'man overboard' drill. This turned into great fun for Aaron once he realised his lifejacket actually worked!
Anyway, getting back to your point - if you do capsize, no thighs to get caught and the kayak can't fill with water :)

Looks like loads of fun. I haven't had a canoe for years, last was a Stitch & Glue. Is it heavy?
